This was a replica of a Flintlock Dueling Pistol finished in gold colouring and manufactured by The Craftsman master of Versailles, it has been made from wood and metal. The flintlock pistols had the blistering of a flint or flint stone, which when the hammer was triggered, it produced the spark that ignited the gun powder. All these pistols required the manual recharge of their ammunition after each shot. The use of these weapons used when duelling equaled opponents since they were in the same conditions when shooting. During these duels, the target was generally not to kill the opponent, but to achieve "satisfaction", for example by restoring one's honor by putting life at extreme to defend it. In many countries, duels were not recognized as a legal way of saving honor, so the duelists used to doing this in secluded places and almost always at dawn.
